Barbara has been working with the Canadian wood industry in the area of new product development and design for 12 years. Her main roles within FPIntell are to define the scope and direction, and to create a collaborative culture. Barbara is also curator and co-generator of the information found on the blog. This content is developed by conducting interviews, trade show attendance, surveying trend reports and through contextual observations. Barbara is a community manager for FPIntell’s collaborative innovation platform where she is focused on creating engaged communities that yield actionable insights for new product development.
Barbara’s hope for FPIntell is to develop a highly specialized ecosystem where ideas can mingle, grow and create new wood-based products.
Barbara has a B.Ed. from the University of Alberta, Edmonton. She also has a diploma in Product Design with a specialization in wood and wood composites from KSA, School of Art and Design.
Site Developer & Community Builder
Jeff brings 20+ years of experience in the forest + technology industries, largely in the areas of software development, sawmill processes & performance optimization, to FPIntell. His main role in this project is to research, develop and continuously evolve the various web technologies that power FPIntell. He also coaches his teammates on how to engage with and use these online tools. Jeff spends much of his time on the art and science of organizing and labelling the information on the website to ensure that it is coherent and user-friendly.
Jeff hopes to use his commitment to open-collaboration, iteration and experimentation to help the FPIntell project continually improve.
Jeff holds a B.Sc. in Biology from Dalhousie University, Halifax Nova Scotia. He also holds a B.Sc. in Wood Products Processing, with a product development specialization, from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver.
Researcher & Content Developer
Myriam works as a researcher at FPInnovations in the Secondary Transformation department. Her principal research interest is the area of design within the wood product industry. Her main roles in FPIntell are in the areas of trend watching and content development for the blog. Myriam is the community manager for the French part of the open innovation platform.
Myriam hopes that FPIntell becomes an essential platform to inspire and facilitate innovative product development for the Canadian wood product industry.
Myriam is a forest engineer; she received a bachelor degree in Forest Management and Environment from Laval University, as well as a Master’s and a Ph.D. in wood sciences at the Centre de recherche sur le bois of the same University.
