I love SIP’s. However the wood component of SIPs, OSB, was not designed for SIPS (structurally insulated panels), OSB was just a convenient shear wall. I ask you, what is a great designed use of wood fibre for SIP’s? Further to this, SIP’s are dictated by dimensional lumber, laughable, because they need to match the 2×6 or 2×8 lumber as spline pieces. SIP’s should not be relegated to standard lumber, lets set it free. I would like to discuss new connections and even a new shear system. We also need to be aware that most SIP’s are debilitated by fire. I hate drywall. Can we figure out how to remove drywall while creating our new SIP system? I’m looking forward to sharing a few ideas.
